The Priceless View at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort in St. Maarten: CheapCaribbean's 2022 Noble Beach Prize Winner

Located on a Peninsula on the southern coast of St. Maarten, DIvi Little bay Beach Resort is surrounded by Bright Blue Water on all sides

I was honored to be one of this year’s judges for CheapCaribbean.com’s Noble Beach Prize, a special designation to showcase the best of resorts in the Caribbean, Mexico, and Central America. In May, I had the opportunity to discover one of this year’s winners: Divi Little Bay Beach Resort in St. Maarten. This article describes the convenience of having my trip planned by CheapCarribean.com, the ease of my transfers coordinated by Amstar and provided by Exquisite, and details about my stay at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort, including how to find the best views and plan your activities.

| caught the first glimpses of St. Maarten upon landing at SXM, the island’s famous international airport that’s located right next to popular Maho Beach, and was immediately impressed. As I made the quick 20-minute ride from the airport to the resort and set my first sights on Divi Little Bay Beach, it was already obvious why it was chosen as one of this year’s Noble Beach Prize winners.

Everywhere you look, the priceless views are perfectly framed. This corridor is located near the Divi Little Bay Beach resort’s infinity pool.

Divi Little Bay Beach Resort won CheapCaribbean.com’s 2022 Noble Beach Prize for its “Priceless View”, and it’s clear to see why.

Located on a peninsula on a southern point of the island of St. Maarten, the resort is surrounded by water on all sides and offers stunning views seemingly everywhere you look. Colorful archways and long, breezy corridors open up to beautifully framed views of the surrounding bays and lush mountainous terrain. Because of its geographical location on a peninsula, Divi Little Bay Beach Resort offers stunning views at both sunrise and sunset, as well as during the day and at night.

Depending on the time of year you visit, and the time of day you are exploring the resort, you’ll notice that the sunlight changes and casts glorious shadows into and across the property. I visited Divi Little Bay Beach Resort in mid May, and the sunsets at this time of year perfectly illuminated this corridor (pictured), located near the resort’s southern infinity pool. Regardless of the time of year you visit, or the time of day you spend exploring the resort, the views at Divi Little Bay Beach resort are sure to be priceless.

The Best Room with a View at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort

The Balcony and view from Room 330 at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort, St. Maarten

As if the views from the grounds of the resort weren’t stunning enough, I was absolutely blown away when I first saw the balcony and the view from my room at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort. Over the course of my four-night stay, I continued falling in love with the view from the balcony as the clouds would pass, the weather would change, and the sun would rise and set.

I stayed in Room 330, which is a Studio Suite. All suites at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort offer a private patio with beautiful ocean views, but due to the property’s clever architecture not all balconies are identical. If you’re interested in booking the exact room that I stayed in, it’s worth putting in a request for Room 330 or asking for something similar depending on availability!

The balcony was the obvious highlight, but the room itself was spacious and comfortable, with a kitchenette and very large closet and bathroom with a spa tub. The Studio Suite featured a king size bed and a pull-out sofa, and all of the standard in-room amenities to make your stay a comfortable one. The Studio Suite’s kitchenette is also a nice feature, especially for guests that enjoy longer stays and the convenience of cooking for themselves. Groceries can be purchased from the mini super market located on the property- more on this below in the next section.

Resort Amenities at Divi Little Bay Beach

What was most memorable about my stay at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort was the relaxed and easy-going atmosphere, and the friendliness of the staff. Everyone I came into contact with from the check-in and concierge desks, to the bellmen and security guards, and the restaurant staff and beach attendants, was always smiling and kind and ensuring that their guests were enjoying their stays to the fullest.

The property features three ocean-view swimming pools, a 24-hour fitness center, and a luxurious spa that also has ocean-view treatment rooms. There are a number of restaurants on the property, offering everything from casual bites at their pool and beach bars to fine dining in their signature restaurants.

The shopping promenade at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort is a convenient place to choose souvenirs, shop for jewelry, grab a quick coffee from Fort Amsterdam Cafe, or pick up groceries and toiletries from the on-site mini market. The mini market has a particularly impressive selection of Dutch, French, and American snacks, fresh produce, imported wines, and beauty products. Even more impressive were the fair prices for each of the items for sale. For guests staying in suites with kitchens or kitchenettes, you can whip up a great meal from items purchased from on-site mini market.

Of course, ocean front access is Divi Little Bay Beach Resort’s greatest amenity, and my five days spent at the resort were full of both adventure and relaxation. More on this below-

The Activities at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort in St. Maarten

You can rent a car and drive 20 minutes to Maho Beach to watch planes landing at SXM Princess Juliana Airport, St. Maarten

The friendly and knowledgable concierge desk at Divi Little Bay Beach Resort can recommend and organize a variety of activities during your stay, or can refer you to book your activities through Aqua Mania Adventures (they have an office located on the resort property) or through the Dollar Thrifty Car Rental office (which is also located on the resort property).

As soon as I arrived to the resort, I stopped by the concierge desk who helped me plan out my activities for each day, and provided great insight into how I should schedule my days due to availability of each activity.

I chose to rent a car for one day from the Dollar Thrifty office located on-site, which conveniently had same-day availability. I was given a brand new compact car which proved to be perfect for driving around the entire island and stopping by Maho Beach to watch the airplanes land at SXM Princess Juliana International Airport. Taxis are also readily available from the resort and are a convenient and affordable way to get around the island.

Through the concierge desk, I was also able to book a day trip to St. Barth, which is only an hour away by ferry. While visiting the concierge desk, I overheard other guests excitedly book adventures like zip-lining, fishing trips, and horseback riding, and some more leisurely activities like joining a group hike to Fort Amsterdam near the resort.

I was particularly interested in scuba diving, and was referred to the Aqua Mania Adventures office to schedule the dives, verify my certification, and get fitted for my rental gear. I scheduled a two-tank dive, and was able to explore the vibrant reefs located just off Fort Amsterdam, as well as the artificial reef located within Divi Little Bay which is home to sunken sculptures, an airplane fuselage, and a helicopter. The site is also accessible from the resort’s beach if you are an experienced swimmer, or can be visited on a snorkeling tour organized by Aqua Mania. On the last morning of our stay, we were also easily able to book 30 minutes on a jet ski through the Aqua Mania office, and enjoyed every minute gliding across the beautiful blue waters of Little Bay.
