Perfect Moment Skiwear: A Review of My Jacket After 4+ Years
/I’ve skied at least 30+ days a season the last few years, and the jacket that I’ve worn the most is my Oversize Parka from Perfect Moment.
Investing in skiwear is an important task that requires a considerable amount of research and the ability to sift through seemingly endless options. I purchased my Oversized Parka from Perfect Moment ahead of the 2021-2022 ski season simply because it was comfortable and available in my favorite color, and it has since become my favorite and most used ski jacket, even after testing many other brands and styles.
In the last four ski seasons, I’ve worn it well-over 100 times while skiing, and on even more occasions off-the-mountain. I love my Perfect Moment ski jacket so much that ahead of the 2025-2026 ski season, I thought that it was a good time to get another one. I opted for the Maya Jacket in a houndstooth pattern, and after taking it out on my first ski trip of the season, I’m happy to report that my new jacket is even better than my original. Though it’s important for me to note that my new jacket is not a replacement for my original jacket, because I intend to continue wearing both!
If you are wondering if Perfect Moment is a good brand for ski jackets, or are in the market for a new one for yourself or for someone else, continue reading to see why I happily recommend the brand based on my personal experience wearing it for years.
Is Perfect Moment a good ski brand?
Yes! I’ve been so happy with my purchase from 4+ years ago, that I bought the updated version of my same jacket in a fun pattern. I plan to continue wearing both for many years to come. In this article, I describe all the features that I love most about my Oversized Parka from Perfect Moment, and why I decided to get the Maya Jacket too.
What I love most about my Perfect Moment Ski Jackets
The Fit
I personally love a belted ski jacket because I find the silhouette more flattering, but it also has some functional benefits as well: I find that a belted jacket that is fitted around my waist is much warmer than a loose jacket that lets too much air flow inside. The jackets that I own from Perfect Moment are also oversized, so I can comfortably wear my avalanche transceiver underneath without it looking overly bulky. I also love the length of the jacket– the bottom hem stops just at my hips, so I feel like I have ample coverage to protect me from the elements (as well as from any unflattering photo angles!).
They are Versatile
The jackets are warm on their own, but because they are oversized I can also fit another slim-fitting ski jacket underneath when I’m going out on the coldest days. On a normal ski day, I typically wear my Smartwool Merino Baselayer and my Fusalp lightweight zip-up underneath my Perfect Moment jacket. My Perfect Moment jackets are even comfortable and versatile enough to be worn off-the-mountain and in town, or generally anywhere that’s cold.
The belt is also removable and interchangeable, and both of my jackets each came with two belt options. I actually opted to swap mine out for a simple black elastic belt that came with another jacket for a fit that’s slightly looser.
The Number of Pockets
My Perfect Moment Jackets each have two zippered front pockets and two inside pockets (one of which is zippered), and they have proven to be spacious enough to fit everything I need on the mountain– to the point where I can avoid bringing an additional bag. I usually ski with two phones, lip balm, ski pass, and card case, and on several occasions I’ve been able to comfortably place sunglasses, my Insta360 camera, and its extendable handle inside my pockets as well.
The Angle of the Pockets
Every time I wear either of my Perfect Moment jackets, I say to myself how especially grateful I am for the zippered front pockets. Not only are they spacious, but they are also perfectly placed– so even if they are full, they don’t inhibit my skiing in any way, even if I’m positioned in a lowered stance. I’ve tried other jackets, and have been annoyed if I bend over to turn or carve while skiing and can feel the phone in my front pocket pressing into my thigh.
And because the pockets are so easy to access and the plastic zippers are substantial in size, it’s effortless to do a quick check to make sure that my pockets are zipped shut every time I take off on my skis after a break or when getting off the chair lift or gondola.
They are Washable
It’s always important to make the distinction that not all skiwear is waterproof– because sometimes it can be machine washable! The Perfect Moment Jackets that I own are not waterproof and therefore not a good choice to wear in the rain, but they are perfectly suited for cold snowfall. I’ve machine washed my original jacket probably 10 times in the last four years and 100+ uses, and I’m grateful that it’s easy to clean and freshen up. I usually hang-dry my jacket, but it can also be tumble-dried on low.
The Hood is Removable
If I had to choose one thing I didn’t like about my original Perfect Moment jacket, it would be that I thought the hood is unnecessary. I was thrilled to learn that most of Perfect Moment’s newest jackets, including the Maya Jacket that I purchased, now have removable hoods. The hoods are easily attached and detached with simple snap buttons, and because I’m always wearing my jacket with a ski helmet when I’m on the mountain (or with my favorite ear warmers if I’m wearing my jacket off the mountain), then I never use the hood that it came with. I also love having the ability to remove the hood on my new jacket because I like to ski fast, and at times the hood on my original jacket sometimes had a parachute-effect that would slow me down.
They are Durable
Even after all the wear and all the washing, my original Perfect Moment jacket is still in great condition. I’ve carried my skis over my shoulders, braved the elements, and packed myself into crowded gondolas on countless occasions, and my jacket still looks and feels fantastic. There are no rips or holes, and all zippers, buttons, snaps are still in perfect condition even after more than 100+ uses over the last 4 seasons.
All the hardware on my new jacket seems to be even smoother and sleeker, and I expect it to be just as durable over the next four years and beyond.
They’re Visible
I went with a dark green for my original Perfect Moment jacket, because I wanted something that would stand out amongst black, which is a jacket color that is commonly found on the mountain. I figured if I could stand out with a green jacket, I could be more visible and therefore safer– and if I were skiing with my friends, I would be much easier to spot and follow.
I chose a pattern for my second Perfect Moment jacket simply to have something different, and that would be even more visible to others while I’m skiing.
They are Timeless
Dark green was an easy choice because it is -and always will be- my favorite color! Not only is it timeless, but the color is always one that I will be happy to wear. They’ve done various colors of this jacket over the years, and the dark green first appeared in their collection in 2020. I still wear it often, and continue getting complimented for the color.
For the last several seasons, Perfect Moment has incorporated their houndstooth print prominently in their collections and it has since become their signature. I imagine the brand will continue to be defined by this classic pattern for years to come, so it will likely always be in style. The houndstooth Maya Jacket from Perfect Moment is the first patterned ski jacket I’ve ever purchased, and I was quite strategic in my selection!
