Pet Friendly Paris: Iconic 5-Star Hotels Where Your Dog is Welcome

I’ve always said that to be French is to love dogs– and the most iconic hotel properties in Paris are not only historic landmarks within the city, but they also all seem to understand that our pets are our family. To make your visit to Paris as memorable as possible, I’ve created a list of my favorite 5-star landmark hotels in the city that go above and beyond to treat our pets like the royalty that they are.

My Favorite Dog-Friendly Iconic 5-Star Hotels in Paris, France

Le Meurice in Paris warmly welcomes pets– Their emblem even features two dogs and a crown

Le Meurice
1er arrondissement

My pomeranian Gigi and I have passed by and been graciously welcomed to Le Meurice dozens of times when visiting friends, but it wasn’t until recently that I noticed their iconic emblem features two dogs and a crown. It makes perfect sense, as Gigi is always greeted at Le Meurice with such kindness. From the moment you approach the hotel to the moment you depart, guests of Le Meurice and their pets are immersed in the finest of French hospitality.

The location of Le Meurice on the famed Rue de Rivoli is as central as it gets in Paris, overlooking the Jardin des Tuileries and only a few steps away from the Louvre, Place Vendôme, Place de la Concorde, and the Museé d’Orsay just across the Seine to mention just a few landmarks. Note that when taking your pup for some fresh air outside Le Meurice, dogs are only allowed in some designated areas of the Tuileries gardens including the Jardin du Carrousel and the Terrasse du Bord de l’Eau.

Four Seasons Hotel George V
8ème arrondissement

For a stay closer to the Champs-Élysées, the George V is a favorite choice for travelers who love the Four Seasons brand and their elevated caliber of service. Guests of the George V can expect to be delighted throughout every touchpoint of their stay, with their pets receiving the warmest welcome and friendly attention. The historic palace is a legendary destination, which has a reputation for welcoming repeat guests and their families again and again, over the course of generations. And by fully recognizing that pets are part of the family, the Four Seasons in Paris continues to honor their legacy as an institution that understands the absolute finest in hospitality.

Important to note:
I write at length about
traveling internationally, visiting hotels, and flying with my 3kg dog in airline cabins. Each hotel mentioned in this article may have different size or weight allowances (that may also be different than typical airline pet-in-cabin allowances), so be sure to consult the terms and conditions I have linked for each property for the most up-to-date information. Additional daily pet fees may apply, and vary by property.

Le Bristol
8ème arrondissement

Le Bristol may be one of Paris’ most dog-friendly hotels– and they are proudly embracing the fact that they have been welcoming the pets of their guests since opening their doors in 1925 (they are celebrating their 100th anniversary this year!). Their marketing cleverly tugs on the heartstrings of animal lovers everywhere, and even invites viewers to get to know Socrate, the resident Birman cat who instantly and effortlessly makes guests and visitors of Le Bristol feel at ease and at home.

But the warmth of Le Bristol’s hospitality extends far beyond their delightful marketing, as Gigi and I experience it first hand even while running the simplest of errands. When picking up my favorite brioche feuilletée from Le Bristol’s Epicerie with Gigi in tow, we are always greeted by the friendliest smiles and kindness from the staff at the entrance and inside of the hotel.

While Le Bristol Paris is iconic for a host of reasons, the feeling of my dog being treated with such kindness leaves a lasting and memorable impression, and it will always be a top recommendation for anyone planning an unforgettable stay in Paris with their pet. Le Bristol also happens to be very close to Gigi’s favorite park in all of Paris: Les Jardins des Champs-Élysées, a calm green space in the center of the city that is surprisingly never crowded.

Shangri-La
16ème arrondissement

Most known as the Parisian palace hotel with spectacular views of and proximity to the Eiffel Tower, the Shangri-La was the former home of Prince Roland Bonaparte and continues to honor its opulent legacy. Guests of the Shangri-La and their pets are invited to live like royalty and benefit from the best of French-meets-Asian style hospitality. Among its stunning spa and unique restaurant offerings, one of my favorite features of the Shangri-La is its courtyard garden– a peaceful and hidden gem that feels a world away from the otherwise bustling corner of the 16th arrondissement where the hotel is located.

Gigi joining girl’s night for a drink at Lutetia’s Bar Josephine

Mandarin Oriental Lutetia
6ème arrondissement

The only palace hotel located on the left bank, the iconic Mandarin Oriental Lutetia is a unique choice for a memorable stay in Paris. Named for the third century town of Lutèce that became modern-day Paris, the Lutetia hotel was originally constructed in 1910 and has since welcomed notable guests and artists to the culturally significant neighborhoods of Saint-Germain-des-Prés and Montparnasse.

Located just a few steps from legendary shopping, dining, galleries, showrooms, museums, and a number of parks, the Lutetia is certainly a convenient option to make the most of a visit to Paris highlighting the left bank. The Lutetia has a number of restaurants and bars, but a favorite of ours is their Bar Josephine which just-so-happens to be Gigi’s full name! Another favorite restaurant that’s worth mentioning and is located nearby (but unaffiliated with the hotel) is Le Petit Lutetia for classic French cuisine in an elegant yet fun ambiance.

Ritz Paris
1er arrondissement

As prominently and opulently as the Ritz stands in the Place Vendôme of central Paris, the hotel is famed for its discretion and privacy– making it a favorite choice for international celebrities and others who wish to keep a low profile while still enjoying the finest in French hospitality. Ritz Paris accepts small, well-behaved dogs to accompany their guests, and is ideally located in the center of the 1st arrondissement making it an ideal home base for you and your pup.

Gigi fully enjoying her stay at the Airelles le Grand Contrôle at the Château de Versailles

Airelles Le Grand Contrôle
Château de Versailles

The perfect addition to your visit to Paris with your pet: a stay at the Airelles Le Grand Contrôle at the Château de Versailles. I’m still blown away by our experience here– not only is it the most unique and exceptional hotel I’ve ever stayed in, but it is one of the most special things anyone could ever do with their dog by their side.

Gigi was certainly made to feel like royalty at every opportunity throughout our stay, and I will fondly remember the experience forever. In addition to the unparalleled access to the Château de Versailles that is granted to guests of the hotel, the fact that you can have your pet with you at Airelles makes the experience even more unforgettable.
